Arvella Abbott a resident of Durant, Oklahoma and a precious child of God passed from this earthly life in Durant, Oklahoma on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the age of 83 years 11 months and 16 days. She was born in Milburn, Oklahoma on July 28, 1930 to Calvin and Della (White) Kent. Arvella Kent married Charlie C. Abbott, April 8,1962 in Durant, Oklahoma. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the West Side Baptist Church for many years. She dedicated her life to caring for her family. Arvella was a waitress for the KC Waffle House. She loved puzzle books and reading her Bible.
Mrs. Abbott is survived by her daughter, Arvie Miller and husband Preston of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amber Harville of Sherman, Texas, Chelsea Miller of Sherman, Texas and Jeremy Miller of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jayde Harville of Sherman, Texas, Jaylah Ross of Sherman, Texas and Jayden Shearin of Sherman, Texas; sisters, Lahoma Hendricks and husband George of Kenefic, Oklahoma, Christine Burchett and husband Johnnie of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Jeanie Cole and Husband Jim of Wills Point, Texas; brother, Jerry Kent and wife Rita of Stephenville, Texas.
Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Della Kent; husband, Charlie Abbott; brother, Melvin Kent; sister, Wendell Payne.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in her memory will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery Armstrong, Oklahoma.
