Carol Diane Smith passed away in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, April 6, 2012 at the age of 55 years 5 months and 13 days. She was born in Boswell, Oklahoma on Wednesday, October 24, 1956 to Weldon Gleen and Alpha (Massey) Brese. Carol married Cale Smith at the County Line Church on Friday, January 9, 1976.
Carol graduated from Bennington High School in Bennington, Oklahoma in 1974. She went on to be the store manager of Brese's General Store in Bennington.
Carol was a caring person who choose to be a volunteer EMT for the Eastern Bryan County Ambulance Authority. She enjoyed spending time on her computer. But most of all Carol enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Cale Smith of the home; daughter, Julie Smith of Bokchito, Oklahoma; son, Cale Smith, Jr. and wife Crystal of Bokchito, Oklahoma; brothers, John Brese and wife Mary of Harrah, Oklahoma, Kenneth Brese and wife Christina of Yukon, Oklahoma and James Brese and wife Michelle of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Travis, Russell and Rena Tomson all of Bokchito, Oklahoma; brother-in-laws, Nick Smith and wife Glenna of Yuba, Oklahoma and Ed Smith of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Linda Lawson and husband Johnny of Albany, Oklahoma, Sheron Meek of Bokchito, Oklahoma, Brenda Smith of Bokchito, Oklahoma and Gloria Brese of Bokchito, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Bokchito, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon and Alpha Brese; brother, Gerald Glen Brese; father-in-law, Billy Smith.
Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 9, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Bennington, Oklahoma with Rev. Ross Philips officiating. Interment will follow at Old Church in Bennington, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Brad Smith, Jack Lawson, Billy Lawson, Trey White, J. W. Brese, David Brese and Erik Patty.
