Vera Lee Scalf of Bennington, Oklahoma passed away Thursday May 26, 2011 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years 9 months and 14 days. She was born in Bennington, Oklahoma on Tuesday August 12, 1924 to Charles and Earnestine (King) Bettis. Vera married Wesley Leroy Scalf in Madill, Oklahoma on August 1941.

Vera was a member of the Baptist Church. She had many hobbies; crocheting, knitting and watching her soap opera's. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends on the phone.

She is survived by; son, Terry Scalf of Bennington, Oklahoma; daughter, Betty Cosbey of Whitesboro, Texas; grandaughters, Rhonda, Carla, Belinda, Cathy, and Caren; great-grandchildren, Derek, Koti, Elizabeth, and Alex; sister, Vada Butler of Mesquite, Texas; niece, Sue Morris of Mesquite, Texas.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Scalf; parents, Charlie C. and Earnestine Bettis; 5 brothers Carroll, Charles, James, Gene and Edward Bettis.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Old Bennington Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Bennington. Bro. Charles Williams will be officiating. Family and friends may send online condolences & view tributes at www.coffeymurray.com.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Durant, Oklahoma.
