BL ”Bill” Tolbert entered this life on April 22, 1930 in Lamar Co, TX, born to GM and Lera (Garner) Tolbert. Bill went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2018 in Balch Springs, TX at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Bill married the love of his life Wanda Ross on his birthday in 1950 and moved to Bryan County in 1978. He worked for many years as a Truck Driver, working for Red Ball and Consolidated Freight. Bill was of the Baptist faith and worshipped at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mead Oklahoma. He was very instrumental in the installation of 911 emergency services in Bryan County. Bill also was credited with naming several streets in the Bryan County area. He was also a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, serving in Durant and Calera, OK. Bill enjoyed restoring old cars and was known to be a very good carpenter, even assisting in the building of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He loved his family very much. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, GM and Lera (Garner) Tolbert, son, Steven Tolbert, sisters, Delores Derrick and Sybil Henderson.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (Ross) Tolbert of Mead, OK; daughters, Deborah Huggins of Kaufman, TX, Patricia Ferrell and husband Don of Balch Springs, TX; grandchildren, David Stutts and wife Cathy of Rockwall, TX, Kevin Stutts and wife Cindy of Kaufman, TX, Andrea Brhem and husband Sam of Dallas, TX, Eddie Simpkins and wife Doris of Odessa, TX, Tonya Coxey of Durant, OK, Joseph Simpkins and wife Missy of Durant, OK, Elizabeth Simpkins of Durant, OK, Josh Simpkins and wife Raquel of Kaufman, TX, and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mead, OK, with Pastor Randy Lewis officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February, 21, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM for Family Hour. Ken Ervin, Mark McMurray, Shawn Springer, Steve Bishop, Don Hyde and Michael Dotson will be serving as Pall Bearers.
