Jean Stinnett passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on August 27, 2022. Jean was born on June 25, 1930, in Thalia, Texas to Othar Benjamin Hammonds and Callie Pearl (Hayes) Hammonds. She married Herbert Olin (Corky) Stinnett in Vernon, Texas on May 13, 1949.
Jean was a faithful member of the Mead Baptist Church where she served as Secretary/Treasurer for 19 years. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. She loved cooking and feeding people. Jean also enjoyed a little bit of the outdoors with fishing and sitting on her front porch.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons David Stinnett of Mead, Oklahoma, and Jim Stinnett and wife Robbie of Ovilla, Texas, grandchildren James Stinnett and wife Tabby of Durant, Oklahoma, Troy Stinnett and wife Veronica of Mead, Oklahoma, Adrean Stinnett of Mead, Oklahoma, Emily Stinnett of Newton, Iowa, Jessica Gentry and husband Jeff of Arlington, Texas, and Jenna Purkey and husband Jonathan of Midland, Texas. Her legacy carries on with her eight great-grandchildren and her five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters Jimmy Kelly of Melissa, Texas, Nancy Wolfgang of Mesquite, Texas and Margie DePriest and her husband Gordon of Bowie, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents Othar and Pearl Hammonds, husband Corky Stinnett, daughter Glenda Jean Stinnett, brother Hayes Hammonds, sisters Mary Bridge, Charles Gerlack, and Jessie Dixon.
Family hour of visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mead Baptist Church with Brother Kerry Groce officiating. Jean will be laid to rest at the Mead Cemetery following her funeral service. Services will be livestreamed on the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Facebook page.
Those serving as pallbearers are James Stinnett, Troy Stinnett, Lane Stinnett, Tyler Stinnett, Kendal Shives, and Jeff Gentry.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to J127 Ministry, 717 North 49th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
