Clint "Papaw" Smith

Clint Smith of Durant, Oklahoma went to serve his risen Savior surrounded by his family on Friday, February 24, 2012 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 4 months and 13 days. He was born to William Lester and Evelyn (Odell) Smith in Durant, Oklahoma on Monday, October 11, 1943. Clint married Lynette Keever on December 19, 1986 in Durant, Oklahoma.

Papaw, as he was known by many, loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He owned and operated Sanitary Plumbing for 43 years with honesty and integrity. Papaw bowled for many years and enjoyed bowling with his grandchildren. He loved attending church and especially enjoyed teaching 6th grade Sunday School for many years. Papaw taught auto mechanics at Kiamichi Vo-Tech. He looked forward to morning breakfast at Bob's Cafe. Papaw enjoyed traveling and especially swimming with his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and he cherished his many friendships and especially his animals. Papaw graduated from Mead High school and went on to graduate from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma with numerous degrees. He proudly served his country in the National Guard and he loved to learn and continued to study throughout his life. Papaw was the first person to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be missed and greatly cherished by many.

Papaw is survived by his mother, Evelyn (Odell) Wilson; wife, Lynette Smith of the home; daughters, Malissa Buchanan and husband David of Calera, Oklahoma and Lori Allen and husband Corey of Bennington, Oklahoma; sons, Michael Myers and wife Tracy of Durant, Oklahoma and Jeff Chavis of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Blake Buchanan, Krysten McMillian, Kolby Allen, Kennedy Allen, Baylie Barrick, Brooklyn Barrick, Brittany Chavis, Corey Chavis, and Kaitlyn Chavis; great-grandchildren, Ryder Hoffpauir, Jayden Money and Kaden Money; sister, Tonya Capes and husband James; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Lester Smith; brother, Billy Harold Smith.

Family hour will be Monday at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home from 6-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Mead Cemetery in Mead, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be J.C. Curtis, Tommy Kramer, Don White, Bobby Carroll, Bo Hearon and Buddy Pierce. The honorary pallbearer will be Jack Treat.
