Alvin Roy Sheffield, Sr

Alvin Roy Sheffield was born Saturday, January 7, 1939 at the homeplace in a tent at Quinton, Oklahoma to Willie Sheffield and Fannie Irene (Smith) Sheffield. Alvin passed from this life on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 in Denison, Texas at the age of 85.

Alvin was one of eleven kids as his family moved around a lot from California and settling in the Frederick, Oklahoma area. Alvin worked several trades from sheetrock work, roofing, and as a truck driver over 50 years. He also spent a few years working in Louisiana at the fishing docks.

Alvin was an avid big-time fisherman who loved being on the water. He also enjoyed hunting, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Larry Cross and Bobby Broussard; and a grandson, Avery Foreman.

He is survived by his children, Julie Foreman, Alvin Sheffield Jr. (Lucy), Angela Buchanan (Mary), April Bishop (Bo), Lila Ford (Tobie), and Shanon Cross; grandchildren Colley, Robbie, Rainnie, Freedom, MaKenzie, Samantha, Gus, Cooper, Dustn, Angela, Emylee, Carson, Cooper C., Bryce, Elijah, Seth, Remington, Hunter, Micheal, Steven, Corey and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Gage, Liam, Caylee, Tyson, Braxton, MaKenzi, Laynee, Hunter, Charleigh, Carlee, Troy, LJ and Dale; and by his 7 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 10th, at Brown's Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Don Fentem officiating. Interment services will follow at Mead Cemetery with Alvin Sheffield Jr, Bo Bishop, Tobie Ford, Colley McLandon, Seth Bannowsky and Micheal Cross serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gus Ford, Hunter Bishop and Remington Bishop.

Alvin's family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9th, from 6-8 PM at Brown's Funeral Home.
