Verlie Mae Vest Reed was born on Saturday, November 6, 1915 in Walnut Grove, Missouri to Russell Marion and Ruth Mary Lowery Vest. She passed from this life on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

Verlie came to Oklahoma in 1964 from Missouri. She worked as a homemaker all of her life.

Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting and making dolls. She also enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers.

She was devoted to caring for her family, looking at pictures and reminiscing about the past.

Verlie was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl Reed on September 30, 2004, brothers, Vernon Everett Vest, Glen Vest and Leon Vest; sister, June Rost; half-brothers, Marion and Danny Vest and half-sister, Shirley Vest.

She's survived by her son, Carl Reed Jr. and wife Marilyn of Springfield, Missouri, George Edward Reed and wife Lisa of Silo, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Chris Reed and wife Holly of Highlandville, Missouri, Karla Hoffeditz and husband Norm of Springfield, Missouri, Erin Minyard and husband Michael of Denison, Texas and Laura Wylie of Durant, Oklahoma; half-brother, Larry Vest of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Savannah, Kyle, Heather, Brian, Zac, Abigail, Jordan and Sydnee and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow at Mead Cemetery. Bro. Randy Gray will officiate. Chris Reed, Michael Minyard, Norm Hoffeditz, Zac Hoffeditz and Brian Reed will be serving as pallbearers.
