Ulysses Sherman Pierce, age 71, Caney area resident and former Colbert, Oklahoma resident was born December 29, 1923 at Colbert, Oklahoma to James Curtis and Mary Elizabeth Eslick Pierce.

Mr. Pierce passed away Friday, December 22, 1995 at Medical Center of SE Oklahoma, Durant, Oklahoma.

He was 71 year, 11 months and 23 days of age.

He attended school at Colbert, Oklahoma.

Ulysses married Clara Grace Hackworth in June 1948 at Durant, Oklahoma.

He worked in oilfields in Odessa, Texas from 1949 to 1954. He was a machinist supervisor at Goodyear Aerospace in Richfield Park, Arizona.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ulysses is survived by his wife, Grace of the home in Caney, Oklahoma, his sons, Garry Pierce and wife Lillie of Caddo, Oklahoma and Forrest Wayne Pierce of Glendale, Arizona; grandsons, Leland C. and Kerry L. Pierce of Caddo, Oklahoma and Ross Pierce of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Breanna Pierce of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Ollie Mae Taylor of Calera Manor Nursing Home, Calera, Oklahoma and sister-in-law, Martha Pierce of Mead, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Pierce, brothers, Thomas and James Curtis Pierce, George Ware and Bobby Scott and sisters, Lillie Beam and Myrtle Gentry.

Services are scheduled Tuesday, December 26, 1995 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Atoka, Oklahoma.

Interment at Mead Cemetery, Mead, Bryan County, Oklahoma. Rev. Bob Johnson will officiate. Casketbearers are Terry Pierce, Leland Pierce, Chuck Keener, Jerry Pierce, Kenny Pierce and Kenneth Bounds.
