Wynona Reitha (Gibson) Lawrence

November 11, 1937 ~ April 29, 2017

Wynona Reitha Lawrence a resident of Cartwright, Oklahoma left this life in Brownsville, Texas on Saturday April 29, 2017 at the age of 79 years 5 months and 18 days. She was born in Liberty, Oklahoma on November 11, 1937 to William and Thelma (Franklin) Gibson. Wynona was married to Clarence Edward Lawrence (in 1966) for 50 years.

Wynona was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation, and of the Baptist faith. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, and cherished time spent with her grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Wynona enjoyed gardening, visiting the Choctaw Snap Center on Wednesdays, watching wrestling and soap operas, and collecting Elvis memorabilia.

Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her husband, Clarence Lawrence of Cartwright, Oklahoma; daughter, Betty Norton and husband Scott of Cartwright, Oklahoma; son, Kenneth Norton and wife Susan of Cartwright, Oklahoma; sisters, Linda Newsom of Denison, Texas and Norma Embry of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Hobbs and husband Nolon of Mead, Oklahoma, Raitha Hale of Denison, Texas, Quida Norton of Cartwright, Oklahoma, Bobby Norton of Cartwright, Oklahoma and Alex Norton of Cartwright, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Christopher Guhl of Caddo, Oklahoma, David Norton of Caddo, Oklahoma, Joshua DaVault Jr. of Caddo, Oklahoma and Emily DaVault of Caddo, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her parents, William and Thelma Gibson; sisters, Marie Harkins and Serena Gibson; brothers, Sonny Gibson and Clayton Gibson and Amos Gibson; son, Bobby Norton; great-grandson; and nieces, Mary Harkins, and Quida Ramirez.

Family Hour will be from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday May 4th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be at 2:00 PM Friday May 6th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mead Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Nolan R. Hobbs III, Scott R. Hale, Charles Lee Newsom, Michael Embry Sr., Michael Embry Jr. and Rick Embry. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Norton and Kenneth Norton.
