Funeral services for James Jerome "Spike" Erdmann will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Mead Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry Groce officiating. Family Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

James Jerome "Spike" Erdmann, age 85 was born November 15, 1924 in Webster, South Dakota to Paul & Ida Erdmann. He passed from this life on January 28, 2010 at his home in Mead, Oklahoma.

He graduated from High School in Phillip South Dakota in 1943 and joined the navy the same year. He spent 20 years in the navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1962.

He married Juanita (Sally) Erdmann January 12, 1963 in San Jose, California and moved to Mead, Oklahoma that same year. He worked as a mechanic most of his life, on aircraft, boats and cars. He enjoyed traveling, camping, raising and riding horses, deer hunting with his friend and family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Spike is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ida Erdmann, Sisters: Maggie McDonald, Claremore, Oklahoma, Catherine Houghton, Brother: Oliver Erdmann, Phillip, South Dakota and infant grandson Chad Berry Sanford, Mead, Oklahoma.

Survivors include, wife of the home Juanita (Sally) Erdmann, Brother DeWayne Erdmann & wife Mildred of Claremore, Oklahoma, Sister Mary Powers & husband Bob of San Bernardino, California, Daughters, Claudette Sanford & husband Walt, Connie Trent & husband Wayne, Donna Evans all of Mead, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Tabatha Sexton & husband Brent, Tiffany Paris & Jim Blakley, Tessa Trent & Mike Covington, Chad Sanford & wife Jaime, Brandon & Brooke Sanford. Steve Pierce, Constance Slane, Great Grandchildren: Kylie & Katie Trent, Karissa Smith, Kayne Paris, Veruca Svendsen, Trent Sexton, Daniel Hernandes, Kevin Slane and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Harold McDonald, Harold McDonald, Jr., Chad McDonald, Mark McDonald, James McDonald and Stanley Erdmann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Lester, Floyd Swain and Bob Aubrey.
