Tonya Renee Capes passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in Calera, Oklahoma, at the age of 65. Born on May 26, 1959, in Durant, Oklahoma, Tonya's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her dedication to those she loved.
Tonya's life was marked by her commitment to caring for others. For many years, she worked as a housekeeper in nursing homes, where she not only ensured a clean and comfortable environment for the residents but also provided a warm and caring presence. Her work was not just a job; it was a reflection of her compassion and loving nature. Tonya was also an avid animal lover, and her dog was not just a pet but a beloved member of her family. But above all, Tonya's heart belonged to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Taylor and his wife Michaele of Calera, Oklahoma, and Shawn Taylor and his wife Jessie of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her daughter, Amy Taylor of Durant, Oklahoma; her ten grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren. Tonya's legacy also lives on through her sister, Mary Smith, and her brother, Michael Smith, who will hold her memory dear.
Preceding her in death are her parents Bill William Smith and Evelyn Wilson, and her brothers Billy Smith and Clinton Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Adam Cantrell officiating. Tonya will be laid to rest in Mead Cemetery following her funeral service.
Those serving as pallbearers are Nate Taylor, Tyler Williamson, Jeffrey Stubblefield, Shawn Taylor, Levi Hall, and Tommy Taylor.
