Daniel "Dan" Berghauser passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024, in his hometown of Durant, Oklahoma. Born on September 19, 1945, to Thomas and Juanita Frances (Conwill) Berghauser, Dan's life was a testament to the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family. Dan married the love of his life, Karen Chenoweth Waldrop, on December 11, 1972 in Mead, Oklahoma. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Dan was the proud owner and operator of Dan's Cycle Repair in Mead, Oklahoma, where he combined his mechanical expertise with his ability to connect with people. His technical abilities were evident early on when he ran the projector at the Ship Drive-In and the Plaza Theater.

A man of many interests, Dan was an active member of the Victory Life Church in Durant. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him through times of joy and sorrow with unwavering grace. Dan's passion for remote-controlled airplanes and riding motorcycles was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and love for the open sky and open road.

Perhaps most notable was Dan's generosity, particularly his tradition of donating bicycles to children's fairs. He made sure that the community children were equipped with helmets and bicycles in good repair. This act of kindness was a clear display of his desire to give back and ensure that every child had the chance to experience the simple joy of riding a bike.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Holland and Martha Conwill, his parents Thomas and Juanita Berghauser, his sister Nancy Berghauser, his cherished daughters, Cynthia Michelle Berghauser and Janel Rene Berghauser, and his daughter-in-law Davena Berghauser.

Dan's legacy is carried forward by his loving wife, Karen Berghauser, and his devoted son, David Berghauser, both of Durant.

A time of remembrance and visitation will be held at Family Hour, scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Lee Armstrong and Tim McIntire officiating. Dan will be laid to rest in the Mead Cemetery following his funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Julio Devora, Dennis Devora, Ernesto Devora, James Beach, Jody Damron, and Tony Derby.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
