Dean Armstrong a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the age of 82 years 9 months and 14 days. He was born in Lamb County, Texas on Sunday, April 20, 1930 to Jess Edward and Vela Jane (Taylor) Armstrong.
Dean served his country in the United States Army from 1947 thru 1950. He was a welder by trade and worked for Jagger Maintenance for 15 years as a painter and maintenance professional.
Dean has lived in this community since 1939.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his sons, Jess Armstrong of Madison, Wisconsin, Kenneth Armstrong of Converse, Louisiana, John Armstrong of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Travis Armstrong of Converse, Louisiana; daughter, Deana Sorter of Converse, Louisiana; twin brother, Delton Gene Armstrong of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Vela Armstrong; brothers, Arward, Cecil, Jack and Ralph Armstrong; sisters, Oleta, Hazel and Virginia.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Mead Cemetery in Mead, Oklahoma with Rev. Dan McLemore officiating.
