Albert (Bill) Martin Armstrong a resident of Mead, Oklahoma passed from this eartly life into the next on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the age of 89 years 11 months and 5 days. He was born to Richard Purvis and Kitty Dee (Harbison) Armstrong in Houston, Texas on Saturday, March 14, 1925.
Bill will be remembered by his family and friends for this pride in, dedication and love for his craft. He was a master carpenter who made fine quality pieces of furniture. Bill made beautiful cedar hope chests for his beloved daughters. He enjoyed life and loved the solitude of being outside fishing. Bill liked to dance, sing gospel music and travel taking in the beauty of the country. He loved and cherished his family and his dogs Scruffy and Jinks.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his children, Johnny Armstrong and wife Marian of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Lisa Colenutt of Mead, Oklahoma, Nelda Paulette and husband John of Katy, Texas, Yvonne Seward and husband Jim of Yuma, Arizona, Janice Cox of Claremore, Oklahoma and Carol DeBock and husband Lynn of Mead, Oklahoma; brother, George Armstrong and wife Dee of Corsecana, Texas; sisters, Louise Blanton of Blanco, Oklahoma, Betty Rankin of Davis, Oklahoma and Dorothy Gardner of Ty Valley, Oklahoma; 17 beloved grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Kitty Armstrong; brothers, Pete, Leroy, Bud and Richard; and sister, Irene King.
A funeral services in honor of his memory will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Phillip Rowland officiating. The service will conclude at the chapel. Pallbearers will be Mike Covington, Steve Covington, Scott Covington, Gabe Riggs, Carl Riggs and Billy Riggs.
