Billie Eugene "Pete" Turnbull, 75, of Kemp, passed away Wednesday evening December 17, 2008, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Pete was born April 21, 1933, in Kemp, and was the son of the late Delbert and Ruby Flemmons Turnbull.
He attended Kemp schools and married Clara Richardson October 15, 1951, in Durant.
He was a boiler operator for John Mannsville for over 23 years.
He was a rancher and enjoyed working with cattle. He also enjoyed horseracing, was an avid baseball player and loved his grandchildren.
He was a longtime member of the Kemp Baptist Church and was a lifelong Kemp resident.
Pete was a loving husband, father and Pa Paw and loved Sunday dinners with his family.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Melody Hanning, Thresea Davis and husband Gary, all of Kemp, and Melessia Osborn and husband Scott of Yuba; grandchildren, Michael Manry and wife Jolyn of Calera, Stormy Turner and husband Stoney of Kemp, Alisha Rosenthal and husband T. J. of Port Orange, Florida, Jordan Hanning and wife Cindy of Durant, and Cassie Osborn of Yuba; ten great-grandchildren Whitley, Raychel, Cooper and Ryder Turner, Cheyenne, Zachary and Chase Manry, Tymothe, and Laila Rosenthal and Sophie Osborn; four sisters, Bobbie Burgess and husband Byron, Margie Fox and husband Harold, Olene Covey and Diane Watson and husband Danny, all of Kemp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Pete Turnbill will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, December 20, 2008, in the Kemp Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Speers officiating. Burial will follow in the Kemp Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Manry, Jordan Hanning, T.J. Rosenthal, Jeff Covey, Shane Covey and Royce Hanning.
Family night will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
