Debra Ann (Walker) Sears A service for Debbie (Walker) Sears, 50, Kemp, Oklahoma, who died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Durant. The Dr. Greg Tolle and Jerry Fisher will officiate.

Debbie was born April 17, 1960 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Arnold Dean and Ruth Ann Walker. She was a graduate of Durant High School, Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree in Education (Elementary Major & Special Education Minor), and a Masters of Arts in Teaching (Majoring in Gifted & Talented Education) from Oklahoma City University. She was looking forward to receiving National Board Certification in Special Education this month. Debbie married Beryl F. Sears in Durant, Oklahoma, December 16, 1988. She taught in Oklahoma City, SOSU-Ardmore Higher Education Center, Pottsboro, Denison, Dumas, Sam Rayburn ISD, Texas and has been teaching Special Education/English at Durant High School since 2004. She loved being a professional educator and was loved by her many students. She touched many and was a positive influence to all of her students. She was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ where she taught the children’s Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Walker.

She is survived by her husband, Beryl F. Sears and son, Brent Walker Sears; her father, Arnold Walker of Durant; her sister, Cynthia Wortham and husband Jimmy Wortham of Whitewright, Texas; a niece, Brittney Wortham and a nephew, Blane Wortham of Whitewright, Texas; a brother-in-law, W. L. Sears, Jr. and wife Sarah; nephews Lee & Matthew Sears and niece, Sarah Lynn all of Kemp, Oklahoma; three uncles, Jack Sawyers and wife Elaine of Durant, Bill Sawyers and wife Vicki of Kingston, Nolan Walker and wife Neta of Blair, Oklahoma; one aunt, Margaret Allen and husband Buddy of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and a multitude of family and friends.

Family hour will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kemp Cemetery, Kemp, Oklahoma with Steve Arthur, Bobby Richardson, Jimmy Wortham, Kent Sawyers, Vincent Sawyers, David Harp and Tolly Payne serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are W.L. Sears, Lee Sears, and Matthew Sears
