Ray Duckworth a resident of Kemp, Oklahoma left this earthly life in Colbert, Oklahoma on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at the age of 88 years 3 months and 24 days. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Theodore Eagle and Esther (Hodges) Duckworth. Ray married his beloved Inez in Denison, Texas on August 23, 1952.
Ray worked for Safeway Stores, Inc. in Denison, Texas until he retired. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ, and read his Bible often. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Ray liked to play the drums for services, and share the Word of God with the congregation at times. He enjoyed working on his computer, and working crossword puzzles.
Mr. Duckworth is survived by his daughters, Jody Duckworth of Denison, Texas and Elana Smith of Cartwright, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Michael Ricks of Baldwin, Missouri, Christi Ricks of Lago Vista, Texas, Misti Wines of Achille, Oklahoma, Joel Gibby of Durant, Oklahoma, Salina Smith of Denison, Texas and Christopher Lance Smith, Sr. of Cartwright, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Sally Megan Duncan of New Braunfels, Texas, Brittany Armstrong of Denton, Texas, Payton Armstrong of Achille, Oklahoma, Tabitha Ricks of Denison, Texas, Ezekiel Gibby of Durant, Oklahoma, Destiny Gibby of Durant, Oklahoma, Hannah Wilson of Bakersfield, California, DeMarcus Smith of Denison, Texas, Tyrese Smith of Denison, Texas, Kolbi Droz of Denison, Texas, Christopher Lance Smith, Jr. of Pottsboro, Texas, and Daphanie Smith of Denison, Texas; brother, Bill Duckworth and wife Lawanda of Cartwright, Oklahoma; Ray’s roommate at Southern Point Kenneth Johnson and good friend Glenn Whitt; and also survived by other family members.
Mr. Duckworth was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Esther Duckworth; wife, Rev. Inez Duckworth (August 12, 2016); daughter, Diana Ricks; and great-grandson, Michael Ricks.
Ray’s family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Southern Point Nursing Home, Guardian Hospice and Aspire Hospice for the loving care he received from their staff.
Family hour will be from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM Sunday April 30th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service will be at 2:00 PM Monday May 1st at the Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp, Oklahoma with Pastor Glen Denson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Kemp Cemetery.
