Betty Jane Weemes passed peacefully in her sleep, joining her beloved Savior Jesus Christ on November 27, 2020 at the age of 91. She was born on April 10, 1929 to Gordie Harrington and Fannie Pearl (Graham) Harrington in Ringold, Oklahoma.
Betty married J. D. Weemes in 1947. She dedicated her life to caring for her family; always providing an open loving door for anyone in need. The warmth of her smile could be felt from deep inside your heart and her laughter could be heard for miles. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and she enjoyed telling stories to anyone that would listen. She was a deeply spiritual woman who practiced her Pentecostal faith as an active member of the United Pentecostal Church. Besides her faith, her family was her greatest blessing in life.
Mrs. Weemes was preceded in death by her parents, Gordie and Fannie Harrington, husband, J. D. Weemes, sons, Quinten Lee, and D. J. Weemes, daughters, Nancy Sue Dodd and Peggy Hamilton, her brothers Silven Harrington, Cecil Harrington, Burl Harrington and Haskell Harrington, her sisters Nellie Rushing, and Ivy Harrington.
Mrs. Weemes is survived by her sons, Don Weemes and wife Lois of Durant, Oklahoma, and Sherdean Berry and husband Jimmy of Durant, Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many other beloved family members She will be laid to rest at the Jackson Cemetery in Bennington, Oklahoma with pallbearers: Marcus Hall, Scott Hall, Tyler Hooser, David Newell, Jordon Smith, Kyle “Carl” Dunfee, Brandon Jurden, and Justin Jurden.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday December 2nd at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Rev. Dale Ballard officiating.
Family hour will be from 7-8:00pm on Tuesday December 1, 2020 at the Holmes~ Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. The services will be available to view via live stream on the funeral home Facebook page.
