Jerry Shannon a resident of Gainesville, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born in Olton, Texas to Calvin and Willie (Johnson) Shannon on January 26, 1938. Jerry married Elizabeth Burden in Hollis, Oklahoma on July 16, 1957.
Jerry was a member of the Baptist Faith. He was a dairy farmer for many years and later became a welder. Jerry enjoyed the quiet solitude of fishing.
Mr. Shannon is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home; sons, James Shannon and wife Darlene of Alvin, Texas and Charles Shannon and wife Brenda of Gainesville, Texas; daughters, Beverly Alejandro and husband Jose of Brandon, Texas, Sharon Davis of Gainesville, Texas and Sandra Shannon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brothers, Eugene "Earl" Shannon and wife Shirley of Marietta, Oklahoma; Kenneth Shannon of Lawton, Oklahoma and Charles Shannon of Grandview, Oklahoma; sisters, Chris Brown of Lawton, Oklahoma and Bye Paul and husband Gordon of Pottsboro, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Willie Shannon; brother, James Shannon; and sisters, Wanda and Kathlene.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 7-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Jackson Cemetery Pavilion in Bennington, Oklahoma with Bro. Charles Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be Earl Shannon, Tommy Cox, James Kimbley, Randy Kimbley, Joshua Davis, Shawn Robertson and Bradley Shannon.
