Elizabeth Shannon, a resident of Gainesville, Texas, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed from this life in Gainesville on May 10, 2018 at the age of 75. She was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on October 7, 1942 to Watson and Elsie (Parker) Burden. Elizabeth married Jerry Shannon on July 16, 1957 in Hollis, Oklahoma.
Elizabeth lovingly dedicated her life to caring for her home and family. She was a department manager at Wal Mart for 15 years. Elizabeth enjoyed playing Bingo, making beautiful quilts by hand, and cooking for those she loved.
Mrs. Shannon is survived by her sons, James Shannon and wife Darlene of Bacliff, Texas and Charles Shannon and wife Brenda of Gainesville, Texas; daughters, Beverly Alejandro and husband Jose of Brandon, Texas, Sharon Davis of Gainesville, Texas and Sandra Shannon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lavon Shannon of Gainesville, Texas, Diane Gilbert of Wade, Oklahoma, and Linda Bailey of Durant, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her parents, Watson and Elsie Burden; beloved husband, Jerry Shannon; brother, Bill Burden; and sister, Cinda Winton.
Family Hour will be from 6-7:00 PM Saturday May 12th at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM Monday May 14th at the Jackson Cemetery in Bennington, Oklahoma with Bro. Charles Williams officiating. The pallbearers will be Jose Alejandro III, Johusa Davis, Charles Bradley Shannon, James Kimbley, Randy Kimbley, and Shawn Robinson. Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Carny.
