Frances "Lou" Brewer McCalip

Services for Frances "Lou" McCalip, 71, of Bennington, who passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, in Athens, Texas, will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Bennington First Baptist Church. Pastor Buddy Barcheers will officiate.

Born December 29, 1936, in Bennington to Andrew and Ola Mae Minyard Brewer, Lou was a lifelong resident of Bennington.

She married Leroy McCalip on June 28, 1967, in Paris, Texas.

Lou was a homemaker.

She worked for the sewing factory and as a waitress in Dallas. Lou also developed film for Kodak in Dallas.

She was affiliated with the Pentecostal faith.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents and husband.

Lou is survived by son, Buddy Ward and wife Sharon, Fairfield, Texas; daughters, Janice Ward, Gail Percell and husband Johnny, all of Bennington, Sue Oberholtzer and husband Jeff of Alma, Colorado, Lillie McLeod of Watonga, Rhonda Wallace and husband Johnny, Lee Pugh and husband Keith, all of Durant, Mary Russell and husband Billy of Maybank, Texas, and Dorothy Odell and husband Wilber of Dallas; two brothers, Stan Brewer and wife Ruth of Boswell, and Brad Brewer and wife Terrie of Durant; one sister, Ida Clement of Sanger, Texas; special friends, Betty Bennett and Hazel Larkins, both of Bennington; thirty four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Interment will be at the Jackson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Williams, Lee Henson, Don Gilbert, Chris Roman, James Wright and Brian Joseph, and honorary pallbearers will be Paul Cahill and Bill Woodruff.

Family hour is Monday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.

Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
