Dorothy Dale (Skidmore) Jackson was born on April 21, 1940 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas to Jesse P. and Bonnie A. (Wymack) Skidmore. Dorothy passed from this life on May 17, 2018 in Denison, Texas at the age of 78.
Dorothy touched many young children’s lives working for Irving Public Schools before moving to Bryan County in 1998 and she continued taking care of children and feeding them at Rock Creek School until her retirement. She was married to Marshall Jackson for 39 years and she was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo in her free time. She deeply loved her family and treasured her grandchildren more than anything.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Danny Jackson; daughter, Pam Jackson; parents, Jesse and Bonnie Skidmore; granddaughter, Keysha Minyard; great granddaughters, Kali Minyard and Ava Martin; sister, Ruth Wolfe and ex husband, Marshall Jackson.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Paul Jackson and girlfriend, Kellie of Bells, TX, Kelli Wingfield and husband Andy of Durant, OK, Brent Jackson and wife Shannon of Calera, OK, daughter in law, Leola Jackson of Bennington, OK; grandchildren, Brentni Burrola, Amber Schied, Brandon Johnson, Breanne Martin, Holly Smith, Andrew Wingfield, Amber Breese, Aimee Hall, Jennifer Bohanan, Cheyenne Wolfe, Dakota Jackson, Savannah Harrell and Jesse Jackson; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Brown; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington, OK with Pastor Phillip Rowland officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Cemetery with Brandon Johnson, Andrew Wingfield, Dakota Jackson, Jesse Jackson, Jeremy Cotton, Ronnie Schied and Jeremy Hall serving as pallbearers. Dorothy’s 13 great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jackson Cemetery or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
