Helen Janet Rice Wingfield

Helen Janet (Rice) Wingfield passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Calera, Oklahoma at the age of 86. She was born on August 12, 1939, in Durant, Oklahoma to Felton and Beulah (Corley) Rice. She married the love of her life, Howard Wingfield on August 18, 1983, in Denison, Texas. They shared 39 years of wedded bliss before his passing on March 4, 2023.

Helen was a Veteran where she served in the United States Army as nurse. She loved listening to music, with Elvis being one of her favorites. Helen was a lover of pretty things, like pretty clothes and pretty flowers. She loved her family and would call them, often talking for many hours. She loved her husband dearly, and he loved her just as dearly. She loved stuffed animals, loved drinking coffee, and would often visit with friends at the local coffee shop. She graduated from Durant High School. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Left behind to cherish Helen’s memory are her children; son Mike Draper of Van Buren, Arkansas, son Mark Draper of Durant, Oklahoma, son Duwayne Wingfield of Durant, Oklahoma, son Jason Wingfield of Durant, Oklahoma, son David Magby of Durant, Oklahoma, and her daughter Sandy Wingfield of Durant, Oklahoma, with numerous grandchildren, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews. Her surviving siblings include Rebecca Smith, Shirley White and her husband Joe, and Donald Rice and his wife Gay of Mapleton, Minnesota.

Preceding Helen in death are her parents Felton and Beulah Rice, her husband Howard Wingfield, brother Jerry Rice, daughter Mischelle Moss, and her grandson Joseph Draper.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jesse West officiating. Following the funeral, Helen will be laid to rest in the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma.
