Howard Benson Wingfield

Howard Benson Wingfield of Durant passed peacefully into his eternal home on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the age of 81. He was born July 31, 1941 in Caddo, Oklahoma to James Henderson and Hazel Corene (Evans) Wingfield.

On August 18, 1983, Howard married Helen Crenshaw in Denison, Texas. Howard honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and was a former jet mechanic for Lockheed. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, bird watching and flower gardening. He also enjoyed photography.

He is survived by his loving wife Helen Wingfield of Durant, his daughter Sandy Wingfield and Keith Emerson of Caddo, his sons Duwayne Wingfield of Durant, Jason Wingfield of Durant, adopted son David Magby of Durant, stepsons Mark Draper of Durant, and Mike Draper of Van Buren, Arkansas. His legacy lives on with his grandsons Brandon Mullens of Mead, Jonathon Rutherford of Durant, Kyle Draper of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Jason Moss of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, his granddaughters Ashley Rutherford and fiancé Joel Stringfellow of Durant, Andie Wingfield of Oklahoma City, Stephanie Wingfield of North Tonawanda, New York, Stacy Moss of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Britney Draper of Van Buren, Arkansas, as well as his great-grandchildren Brailey Vaughn, Colt Williamson, Victoria Evans, and Liam Smith. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne Wingfield, James Wingfield, David Wingfield and wife Lena, and Dale Wingfield and wife Sandy all of Caddo, his sisters Reba Schafer and husband Hans and Juanita McGee both of Caddo, Rita Burney and husband Mike of Durant, and Donna Dellinger and husband Chris of Prosper, Texas, as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents Benjamin and Beatrice Wingfield and Mattie and John Evans, his parents James Henderson and Hazel Corene Evans Wingfield, his stepdaughter Mischelle Moss, and his grandson Joseph Draper.

Family Hour is scheduled for Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Anthony Williams officiating. Howard will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery following the funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Albert Magby, David Magby, James Petitt, Jonathon Rutherford, Shawn Hall, and Keith Emerson.
