Billy Earl Smith, a resident of Sherman, Texas passed away in Denison, Texas on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the age of 82 years 9 months and 25 days. He was born on Tuesday, July 16, 1929 in Durant, Oklahoma to Marvin and Nina (Vincent) Smith. Billy married Dorothy Stockton on Thursday, April 21, 2012 in Beacon Hill.
Billy graduated from the Russell Training School and went on to be a sales manager for Commercial Steel Treating. He was a proud member of the Masons, obtaining the level of 32nd degree. Billy was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith of Sherman, Texas; sons, William Smith and wife Beverly of Washington, Michigan and Daniel Smith and wife Theresa of Rochester, Michigan; daugter, Rebecca Jones and husband David of Denison, Texas; daughters, Johnna Nowlin and husband Keith of Sherman, Texas and Janet Baxter and husband Mike of Sherman, Texas; sons, Jay Stockton and wife Carolyn of California and Jed Stockton and wife Theresa of Indiana; niece, Nina Preston of Bloom Field, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Nina Smith; two sisters.
Family Hour will be from 3-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 14, 2012 at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Welton Stocker officiating.
