Larry Howard Singleton, 68, went home to be with the Lord October 10, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born August 14, 1941, in Durant, Oklahoma the son of Morris “Butch” and Ruth Lee (McBee) Singleton. Larry married Sarah Fay Nunley December 19, 1961 in Hanford, California.
Larry graduated High School from Bokchito, Oklahoma in 1960. Upon graduation he moved to Corcoran, California to work for JG Boswell Land Company as a heavy equipment operator. In March1969, he and wife Sarah moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to his family. Larry then worked at Peabody Galion for several years and then retired from Durant Public Schools in 2005. Larry’s most enjoyable hobbies were tinkering w/ motorcycles, remote control cars and boats, and playing with electric trains.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth Lee (McBee) and Morris “Butch” Singleton and his brother JD.
Larry is survived by his loving family, wife of 47 years, Sarah Singleton of the home, son Wesley Singleton and wife Trish of Calera, Oklahoma, granddaughter Mackenzie Lee Singleton of Calera, Oklahoma. His sister Donna Kay Banks and husband Bill of Jenks, Oklahoma, brother Don Singleton and wife Kathy of Bokchito, Oklahoma, and brother Billy Joe “Butchy” Singleton and wife Debbie of Houston, Texas. His uncle Jack McBee and wife Johnye of Durant, Oklahoma, uncle Dwayne McBee and wife Teresa of Mead, Oklahoma, aunt Willie Moore of Durant, Oklahoma, aunt Mae McClure of Mansville, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Special Friends.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Dalton-Ho
mes Funeral Chapel. Rev. Anthony Williams will officiate. Final resting place will be at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home, located at 223 N. 3rd, Durant, Oklahoma.
