Ronnie, a respected resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and beloved family member, left this life in Denison, Texas and arrived in the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the age of 71. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma to L.B. and Ellen Lucille (Adair) Russell. Ronnie married his sweetheart Janelle Barnes in Sherman, Texas on December 22, 1966.
Ronnie served his country and state in the Army Reserves. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Durant, was employed with Coldwell Banker VanMeter Select Realty and dedicated many years of his life, along with Janelle, to ranching and raising cattle. Ronnie also enjoyed the quiet solitude of trout fishing and hunting when he had the opportunity, but most of all he loved attending his grandchildren's activities: softball games and livestock shows. He cherished the times they spent together.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife Janelle of their home; sons, Brad Russell and wife Vickie of Durant, Oklahoma and Casey Russell and wife Candi of Coalgate, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Taylor Russell of Durant, Oklahoma and Caden Russell of Coalgate, Oklahoma; mother, Lucille Russell of Durant, Oklahoma; and sister, Rebecca Dillard and husband Jack of Granbury, Texas.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his father, L.B. Russell; and grandparents, Tom and Annie Russell, and Hiram and Effie Adair.
Memorials may be made in Ronnie's memory to Reba’s Ranch House, 5036 Reba Dr., Denison, Texas 75050, or the First Baptist Church/Youth Ministry, 124 W. Evergreen, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
Family hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 25 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 26 at First Baptist Church in Durant with Bro. James Robinson officiating and burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Butch Smith, Bill Waldrip, Lorene Schuth, Jimmy Elmore, Chico Bond, Jason Earles, Pete Hollock and Lee Nickels.
