Joe Roberts a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the age of 92 years 8 months and 10 days. He was born in Bennington, Oklahoma on August 9, 1921 to James Oscar and Fannie Mae (Schenk) Roberts. Joe married Edna Lucille Foley in Durant in 1975.
Joe served his country and community in the United States Army as a cook and mechanic. He carried his cooking skills into civilian life and prepared food in many of the restaurants in the Durant area. Joe enjoyed being outside in his garden or fishing and he was always looking for a new knife to add to his collection.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his sons, Jimmy Roberts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tommy Roberts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughters, Peggy Remedies and husband Doug of Morgantown, Kentucky, Carol Large of Durant, Oklahoma and Joann Turner and husband Acra of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, James and Fannie Mae Roberts; wife, Edna Lucille Roberts; and his brothers and sisters.
A Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Highland Cemetery Chapel with his family officiating.
