Mrs. Betty Jo Reid, daughter of the late Elmer (Bud) and Allie (Pirtle) Mitchell was born May 26, 1928 in Durant, Oklahoma and left this life peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on February 18, 2016 in Durant, Ok.

She was united in holy matrimony to Vernon “BV” Reid on May 14, 1962 in Atoka, Ok.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, Vernon of the home; her daughter, Yvonne Rolater of Durant, Ok; sons, Joe Reid and wife Kathy of Silo, Ok, Stacy Reid and wife Lori Jo of Durant, Ok; sisters, Nira Jones of Bixby, Ok and Alma (Poochy) Owens of Azle, Tx; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary (Susie) Robbins; brothers, J.M. Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, C.W. Mitchell, Buddy Mitchell, Rex Mitchell and Jim Mitchell and grandson, Joe Dale White.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as a dedicated member of the Abundant Life Church. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Betty’s greatest passions were spending time with her family, camping, crocheting, 50’s plus group and talking with her friends on the phone. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Durant, Ok.

Family hour will be at the Abundant Life Church in Durant, Ok from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM on Monday, February 22. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Chuck Barrineau officiating. Burial will take place at the Highland Cemetery following the services. The Pallbearers will be Dennis Houx, Billy Frazee, Gordon Bruce, Eddie Wood, Roger McCoy and Kenneth McCalib.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
