Jimmy Lee "Pa" Nixon left this life on January 6, 2018 surrounded by family in Durant, Oklahoma. Jimmy was born July 17, 1934 in Caney, OK to Novie Thomas and Pearl Mae (Lovett) Nixon. He grew up in Littlefield, TX and later moved to Lubbock, Texas. In 1956 after his discharge from the Army he met and married Lois (Wooten) in October 1956. Lois preceded him in death on August 15, 1992. Jimmy worked at Stahl Metal Products in Durant for 30 years until his retirement in 1996. On November 4, 2000 Jimmy married his longtime friend Doris Jean (Carr) Jackson in Utica, OK, where they regularly attended Utica Baptist Church. She survives him at their home.
He is survived by his sister Daphene Harris of Houston, TX. Jimmy and Doris have 9 children between them; Mike Bush and wife Patti, Tommy Nixon, Ken Nixon, Larry Nixon and wife Terry, Barbara Earles and husband Matt, Jackie Harkins and husband John, Jeff Jackson and wife Lisa, Joe Jackson and wife Sandra, Terry Jackson and fiancé Mara Richards. There are 11 grandchildren from Jimmy and Lois' union; Wesley Nixon, Spencer Cavender, Rodger Nixon and wife Terri, Jennifer Wilson and husband Bryan Christian, Manette McLean and husband John, Randall Nixon and wife Lora, Lucretia Hoxie and husband Levi, Jody Bush and wife Sabrina, Tracy Cavender and fiancé Darrell Meadors, Amelia Farris and fiancé Justin Copeland and Aren Earles. There are also much-loved grandchildren on Doris' side and numerous great children and nieces and nephews from both unions.
Preceding Jimmy in death were his parents, brother Billy Nixon, and sister Dorothy Cotter.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy's sons, grandsons and family friends.
Family hour will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6-7pm at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant. Service will be Wednesday, January 10th at 2pm at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Chapel with Bro. Jay Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK. Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
