Dicy Marie Pender Morrow

Dicy Marie Pender Morrow. age 91, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went home to be with the Lord Friday September 20, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Durant, OK.

Mrs. Morrow was born March 24, 1928 in Greenwood, Florida; the daughter of William Bryant Pender and Helen Elmetta (McCrainie) Pender. Marie attended college 2 years at Ward Belmont College (Belmont University) in Nashville, TN. On December 29, 1948 Ms. Pender married George W. Morrow in Greenwood, Florida where her father owned and operated Pender Peanut Shelling Company. They moved to Durant shortly thereafter and has been a longtime resident since. On December 1, 1977, Mrs. Morrow along with her daughter, Annette, bought Wella’s Fashions, changing the name to Marie’s. She was an active member of the community and civic activities of Durant. She was proud of the numerous accomplishments that she achieved throughout her life, but there was no greater pride than that which was found in her family. Her memory will be held deep in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Marie is survived by her loving family, two sons, Dr. Jack W. Morrow and wife, Terrye of Ft. Worth, TX; and Joe Pender Morrow and wife, Kathy of Willow Park, TX; daughter, Marie Annette Armstrong and husband, Robert of Durant, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren (Paten, Piper, Preston, Joe, Ashley, Pender, Brandon), 9 great-grandchildren (Ireland, Eleanor, Grahm, Adelyn, Tristan, Conner, Cole, Abram, Elizabeth), brother, Robert Pender of Pensacola, FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, George Bryant Morrow, parents, W. B. and Elmetta Pender, sister, Neva Golson, and two brothers, John and Marcus Pender.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morrow will be held at 10:00 AM Monday September 23, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Garry McNeill officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, OK. Her pallbearers will be Paten Morrow, Preston Morrow, Joe H. Morrow, Pender Morrow, Riley Gardner, and Graham Morrow. Family Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM Sunday September 22, 2019 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Marie's name to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or First Baptist Church of Durant.
