Dwain Menefee

menefeed

December 27, 1938 ~ May 6, 2021

With much love, we celebrate the life of Dwain Menefee, of Durant, Oklahoma, who went home to heaven on May 06, 2021, at the age of 82 years. Dwain was born to Joe Scott Menefee and Mary Lou (Barnes) Menefee in Hale County, Texas.

Dwain attended his last years of school in Corpus Christi, Texas. He had many passions in life, farming in the Panhandle of Texas, ranching in Southeast Oklahoma, and several business ventures. That passion continued through his last days in his garden and yard.

Dwain found his true love, Dannie Rue Cargile. They married in Lazbuddie, Texas on August 27, 1957. Celebrating their anniversary on the incorrect date for many years, but that did not matter to them as long as they had each other. They were married for almost 64 years and raised a Christian family. He truly loved spending time with each one of them.

Dwain was active in Young Farmer's of America, National Farmers Organization, and Hugo Fair Board even serving as a board member. If he was not out on the ranch, you could find him in his shop fiddling around with one of his many projects. If it could be restored, Dwain could do it. He loved to rebuild bicycles and give them to less fortunate children in the community.

Dwain also loved his church family, his neighbors, and his friends. He always had a story to tell and loved to laugh. He shared his love of the Lord with others in words and deeds.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Dannie Menefee of Durant Oklahoma, his brother Keith and wife Sherrie Menefee of San Antonio Texas, his sister Carolyn and husband Greg Freeman of Lubbock Texas, son Joe and wife Rose Menefee of Powderly Texas, daughter Debbie and husband Terry Mefford of Mead Oklahoma, son Jim and wife Tina Menefee of Goshen Indiana, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and loved ones.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Mead Oklahoma in remembrance of this great man in lieu of flowers. https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/1313278 or text the word "give" to (844) 525-5308

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 9, 2021, from 5 - 7 pm at Brown's Funeral Service, 4900 W Hwy 70, Durant, OK. The celebration service will be held Monday, May 10, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4862 US-70, Mead, Ok. A graveside service will follow.
