Linda McGuire, of Durant, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on February 2, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma on July 14, 1940, to Norman Dee and Lena Elrena (Ward) Wells.
On August 21, 1962, Linda married her first love, Jelly Bush, and together they built a life centered around family and faith. After Jelly's passing, Linda found love again and married Everett McGuire on May 23, 1995. Their union was a beautiful blend of two families, where Linda embraced every moment.
Linda was a cherished member of the community, where she dedicated her life to nurturing young minds as a teacher and principal for Utica and Rock Creek schools. Her passion for education and her commitment to her students were evident in her tireless efforts to create a positive learning environment. Linda's influence extended beyond the classroom as she was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed participating in the bell choir. Linda had a love for singing, particularly in church. She was a member of the Oklahoma Singing Church Ladies, showcasing her beautiful voice. Linda was a talented artist as well, enjoying the peace and satisfaction of drawing things that inspired her.
Linda's life was rich with the love of her family. She is survived by her sons Richard Bush and wife Tina, Lynn Bush, Jim McGuire and wife Cheryl, and Lynn McGuire and wife Shelia; her daughter Vicki Holderread and husband Larry; and her grandchildren Brooke Roberts, Ryan Bush and wife Kim, Tyler Bush, Britney Bush, Bryce Bush, Hayley Frye, Kelsey Hays and husband Neil, Ryan Blakemore and wife Jillian, Robyn Hart Jones and husband Kevin, Ashley McGuire, and Joel McGuire, as well as her great-grandchildren Kolton Baeza, Hayden, Kaylee and Easton Bush, Jayci Webb, Alexi Price, Cinch and Piper Roberts, Cayson Bush, Ellerie, Owen, and Everett Hays, Houston and Davis Frye, Brittan and Barrett Blakemore, and Mattie and Mia Jones. Linda's extended family includes her sister-in-law Joan Wells, brother-in-law Dudley Garner, and numerous favorite nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents Norman and Lena Wells, her first husband Jelly Bush, second husband Everett McGuire, brother Homer Dee Wells, and sister Anna Jo Wells. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she carried their memories with her throughout her life.
Her family would like to thank Victory Home Health and Hospice of Durant for their care of Linda. Her family would like to also thank Brooke Roberts and Carrie Hodge for their persistent loving care of Linda during her illness.
Family and friends will gather at her Family Hour on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Highland Cemetery pavilion with Reverend Jeremy Parham officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers are Ryan Bush, Bryce Bush, Tyler Bush, Kolton Baeza, Hayden Bush, Joel McGuire, and Cinch Roberts.
