Joe Paul Masoner

Joe Paul Masoner, a lifelong Durant resident passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in Sherman, TX at the age of 76. Joe was born on May 22, 1941 in Durant, OK to Vernon and Bertha (Lamar) Masoner. He attended Durant Schools and later married Jean Dobson on December 30, 1967 in Kingston, OK. Joe retired from TH Rogers Lumber Company after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and anything outdoors. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Army from 1963-1965.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Monte Hammett, Edith Hill, Margie Van Wagoner, and Patsy Wallace, and two brothers J.T. Masoner and Clifford Masoner.

Joe is survived by his wife Jean of the home, son Lyle Masoner of Durant, OK, daughter Theresa Klopp and husband Craig of Lewisville, TX, two grandchildren Skylar Wyatt of Mustang, OK and Vernon Joshua Brown of Covington, OK., five great grandchildren Jaida, Austin, Chisholm, Augustus, and Paisley. He is also survived by his brother Jim Masoner and wife Sandy of Denton, TX and sister-in-law Norma Masoner of Durant, OK.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jesse West officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with Neal Ashby, Darryl Masoner, Jack Wallace, Randy Masoner, Terry Ashby, and Jason Masoner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Burl Oliver. Family hour will be Tuesday, May1, 2018 from 6-7PM at Brown’s Funeral Service. Online condolences may be sent to the family atwww.brownsfuneralservice.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
