Gene Kirk, age 65, entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on December 20, 2021. He was born October 24, 1956, to Andrew Jackson and Doris Kirk in Durant. Gene attended Bennington public schools and on June 14, 1975, he married the love of his life Ruth Ann Border at Calvary Baptist Church. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working cattle. He especially adored his best buddy and grandson Ethan James Kirk. He and Ruth attended Armstrong Baptist Church.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents AJ and Doris Kirk. His brother Joe Kirk, grandson Zedd Kirk, and father-in-law David Border.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Ruth Ann of the home. Son David Kirk and wife Julie, and grandson Ethan James Kirk of Kenefic. Brother Johnny Kirk of Durant. Sisters Kathy Kirk- Townsend of Bennington, Susie Williams and husband Jackie of Roberta, Debbie Hunnicutt of Silo, brother Robert Danny Kirk and wife Denise of Hugo. His favorite niece Laura Matthews and husband Matt of Bennington, nephew Shannon Kirk and wife Jeanne of Bennington, nephews Jackie Williams and partner Lisa of Roberta, Warren Hunnicutt and wife Susanna of Silo, Jamie Dale Kirk and wife Julie Ann of Mead, Johnnie Allen Kirk of Mead, Tommy Jackson of Mead, niece Brandi Kirk of Bennington, niece Kathleen Farrell of Caney and nephew Jarrell Wayne Farrell of Bennington. Gene leaves behind multiple other nieces and nephews and many cherished friendsServing as pallbearers are Norman White, Mike Lawson, David Ansiel, Bobby Ansiel, Glenn Walsh, Shannon Kirk, Humphry Miller, Matt Matthews.
Honorary Pallbearers Jamie Kirk, JR Kirk, Zakary Hutchinson, and Zane Hutchinson.
Funeral services are set for Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brown’s Chapel in Durant. Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant.
