Dick Tinsley Kidd

Dicky Tinsley Kidd, age 74, was born in Durant, Oklahoma on July 29, 1949, to William and Lucile Kidd in Durant, Oklahoma. Dicky entered into rest on January 31, 2024. Dicky graduated Durant High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Education to become a physical education teacher, He had worked for Ford Motor Company before joining his mother in practicing bonding and tax preparation. On March 25, 1972, he married the love of his life Carolyn Hampton. He attended Fairview Baptist Church. Dicky attended Junior Olympics for track and was inducted into the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 for his contribution to the success of the 1966 track and field team, He was also inducted into the Oklahoma Bondsman Association in 2021. Anyone who knew Dicky would tell you he had a keen sense of humor. He was an avid lifelong fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed tomato gardening and four-wheeling, and he loved sitting on his porch with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Murray and Lucile (Maze) Kidd, his wife Carolyn (Hampton) Kidd, his sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Randy Thomas.

Here to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy are his daughters Amy Hunt and husband Micah of Corinth, TX, and Cheryl Butlan and husband Brett of Durant, OK. His sister Jeanie Strus and husband Mike of Comanche, OK, His nephews Jay and John Thomas and Danny Strus and niece Jennifer Williams. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Abby Hunt, Molly Hunt, William Hunt of Corinth, TX and Laney Butlan of Durant, OK.

A memorial visitation is set for Monday February 5th, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant. A Celebration of Dicky’s life will be held at Fairview Baptist Church on Tuesday February 6th, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Pastor Bill Ledbetter to officiated. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Thomas, John Thomas, Danny Strus, Micah Hunt, Brett Butlan, and William Hunt.
