Don Michael Haggerty

Don Michael Haggerty passed from this life on April 13, 2021 at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 21 days.

Don, who also was called Mike, was born in Durant, Oklahoma on November 23, 1944 to Donald James Haggerty and Dortha Lorraine (Horn) Haggerty, both of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Caddo High School, and obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Agriculture from Oklahoma State University. In his 40s, he obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the Washburn University School of Law of Topeka, Kansas. Don practiced law in Oklahoma from 1988 until March 11, 2021.

Don served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era as a 1st Lieutenant, and was Honorably Discharged on January 1, 1969. He married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Christine (Smithart) Haggerty, on June 1, 1967, who survives him. Don also is survived by two sons, Don Michael Haggerty, II and Donald David Haggerty, and by three grandsons, Don Michael Haggerty, III, Ryan Paul Haggerty, and Kyle Joseph Haggerty. Don further is survived by many other relatives and friends, and is a member of the church of Christ.

Pursuant to his wishes, no memorial service or family hour will be held. Due to coronavirus, a private, family internment will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Durant at the time of burial.

The Haggerty family sincerely wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and kind expressions of sympathy and concern.
