Grace Flud went home to be with her Lord and Savior in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the age of 90 years 6 months and 19 days. She was born in Atwood, Oklahoma on Wednesday, October 10, 1923 to James A. and Mary (West) Cain. Grace Cain married Joy Lee Flud in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Friday, January 10, 1947.

Grace was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a woman who committed her whole life to caring for her home and family. She enjoyed being outside in her garden, camping and fishing. Grace also liked to play Bingo when she could. She was a member of RSVP for 12 years. Grace considered herself to be a blessed woman to have so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always looked forward to spending time with her whole family.

Mrs. Flud is survived by her daughters, Kay Otis and husband Robert of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Nancy Thrasher and husband James of Calera, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brad Otis and wife Lori of Sherwood, Arkansas, Mike Otis and wife Kara of Sherwood, Arkansas, Kristie Hatlestad and husband Dwayne of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Jeff Thrasher and wife Shelly Hart of Calera, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Nathan Otis of Sherwood, Arkansas, Kira Hatlestad of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Max Otis of Sherwood, Arkansas; nephews, Jimmy Cain , Gene Cain and David Roach.

Mrs. Flud was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Cain; husband, Joy L. Flud; brothers, Hershel, Bud and Euless Cain; sisters, Mina Roach and Vera Adams.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund 281 N. 3rd, Durant, Oklahoma 74701 or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzdn.org

Family Hour will be from 6-8:00 PM Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in honor of her memory will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with the Honorable Farrell Hatch and Rev. John Breon officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery Durant, Oklahoma. The pallbearers will be Brad Otis, Mike Otis, Jeff Thrasher and Jerry Hutchings.
