Gomer Eddins a resident of Durant, Oklahoma left this life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the OU Medical Center on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born in Durant, Oklahoma on July 24, 1934 to Lucian and Lizzie (Pickens) Eddins. Gomer married Mildred Plyler, his beloved partner in life, in Muskogee, Oklahoma on May 16, 1981.

Mr. Eddins is survived by his wife, Mildred Eddins of the home; sons, Gerry Eddins of Mead, Oklahoma, Gary Cavender and wife Sherry of Arlington, Texas, David Cavender and wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Larry Cavender of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Sandra Robison and husband William of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Maudine McClure of Cobb, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Letisha Eddins of Mead, Oklahoma, Amanda Burk of Durant, Oklahoma, Christy Sweeney and husband Paul of Durant, Oklahoma, Randy Robison and wife Jamie of Durant, Oklahoma, Lisa Pitt and husband Ryan of Spencerville, Oklahoma, Brian Robison and wife Kacia of Roberta, Oklahoma, Alex Cavender of Houston, Texas, Liz Cavender of Arlington, Texas, Adam and Ryan Cavender both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Brandon Robison, Brady Robison, Jake Robison, Jeffery Sweeney, and Matthew Sweeney all of Durant, Oklahoma, Layla Nicholson, Addison Pitt and Spencer Pitt all of Spencerville, Oklahoma, Hoyte Robison of Roberta, Oklahoma and Jesse Burk, Jr. and Joshua Burk both of Durant, Oklahoma; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Eddins was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Lizzie Eddins; and sister, Beulah Watson.

Gomer was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping under the stars, and the quiet solitude of fishing. He was an excellent mechanic and took great pride in keeping all of their vehicles in perfect running order. Gomer loved his family and considered them the greatest blessing in his life.

Family hour will be held from 7:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A church service in honor of his life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 13 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Darel Bunch officiating. Pallbearers will be Darren Scott Burkett, Norman White, Randy Robison, Brian Robison, Alex Cavender and Brandon Robison. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
