A.L. (Leon) Daniel a resident of Roberta, Oklahoma passed from this life in Durant, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 89 years 6 month and 30 days. He was born to his proud parents Alvin Lee and Ola (Boatner) Daniel on Saturday, October 7, 1922 in Cypress, Oklahoma. After the death of his father and upon the remarriage of his mother he was raised by S.W. Loyd.

A.L. married the love of his life Naomi Bond in Commanche, Oklahoma. They were married for 62 incredible years. A.L. was a skilled carpenter and lifelong rancher. He took pride in his chosen profession and always enjoyed working with cattle. He was the master carpenter for the building of the Roberta Baptist Church. A.L. served proudly in the Army Air Force from 1943 thru 1945. He was a member of the Roberta Baptist Church in Roberta, Oklahoma. A.L. was loved by his family and friends, his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with them. A.L.’s family would like to thank Victory Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate and excellent care during Mr. Daniel’s illness.

Mr. Daniel is survived by his son, Dannie Lee Daniel and wife Sherry of Roberta, Oklahoma; daughter, Cathy Loyd and husband Glenn of Armstrong, Oklahoma; brother, Charles Loyd and wife Zona of Calera, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Samantha Dellinger and husband John of Roberta, Oklahoma, Andrew Daniel and wife Lydia of Roberta, Oklahoma, Christopher Dodds and wife Christine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Katlyn Dodds of Durant, Oklahoma, Brandon Loyd of Armstrong, Oklahoma, Byron Loyd and wife Heather of Utica, Oklahoma and Bryant Loyd and wife Jenna of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Kaycee Williams, Ashlee Williams, Zachary Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Corbyn Daniel, Emma Loyd, Preston Loyd, JopLynn Loyd and Jovi Loyd.

Mr. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, S.W. and Ola Loyd; wife, Naomi; daughter, Karen Sue Daniel; brothers, Cleo Daniel, Bill Loyd and Kenneth Loyd and one infant brother; sisters, Melba Hendricks and Pat Morrison. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the Roberta Baptist Church in Roberta, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Loyd and Rev. Jackie Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Shepard, Mark Shepard, Joey Robinson, Jerry Robinson, Brandon Loyd, Bradley Wilson and Bryant Loyd.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Roberta Baptist Church Building Fund @ 252 N. Roberta Road, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
