Services for Bert Ray Crossland, 54, of Durant, who passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007, in Dallas, Texas, was held today at 11:00 a. m. at Brown's Durant Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Darel Bunch officiated.

Bert Ray was born December 3, 1952, in Durant to Herbert Wilson and Mary Ellen Tigert Crossland.

He attended and graduated from Durant High School then later served his country in the United States Air Force.

He married Margaret Anderson December 26, 1971, in Durant.

He and his family moved back to Bryan County in 1993 when he retired from the military. He later went to work for Big Lots Distribution Center in Durant and worked there until his death.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his truck, taking care of his dogs, but his best hobby of all was his grandson, Corbin Ray.

Bert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bert Ray was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Wilson Crossland and brother, Terry Gene Crossland.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; daughter, Amanda Crossland; son, Robert Crossland; grandson, Corbin Ray Crossland, all of Durant; mother, Mary Ellen Crossland; sister, Janice Hayes and husband David, all of Calera; brothers, David Crossland of Oklahoma City and Paul Crossland and wife Carolyn of Kernsdille, North Carolina; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Interment was in Highland Cemetery with David Hayes, Paul Crossland, David Lynn Crossland, Jason Morris and Bill Anderson serving as pallbearers. There was no family hour scheduled.
