Linda Kay Condor, a resident of Durant and educator of forty-four years, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
She was born in McAlester, OK on June 3, 1948 to Edward and Lavern Jones. She graduated from Panola High School, followed by Northeastern University where she majored in English, and started her teaching profession in Valiant. She later earned two masters degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, in both counseling and psychometry. She was currently employed as the district psychometrist for Durant I.S.D. She was a member of OEA, NEA, and served on the board for CASA, where she was an advocate for helping children and families.
Linda’s jewelry was outshone only by her personality, and was loved by all who knew her. When we reminisce about Linda’s younger days, we’re reminded of her jumping on the back of a motorcycle with her glowing skin and wild hair, or her lounging at Lake Texoma in her leopard bikini. Linda was always the life of the party and she loved parties! She lived life to the fullest and with gusto.
She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends, watching movies and traveling. To everyone who knew her, she was not just a friend, but a best friend. Linda loved nature and acknowledged God’s handiwork in everything both great and small. She was a teacher, a confidante, a mother, and above all else, she was GiGi. Linda would agree that it is not the length of life, but the depth of life.
Linda is survived by her son Chase Condor and wife Erin, granddaughter Kenzie, Durant, brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Judy Jones, Red Oak, sister Judith Smith, Durant, nieces Jennifer Walker and husband Troy, Red Oak, Summer Smith, TX and nephew Eric Smith, TX, great-nieces Madison and Macy Walker, Red Oak.
