Nelladel Genevieve Ruggles Combes

February 14, 1931 - January 21, 2026

Nelladel Genevieve (Ruggles) Combes, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma, passed peacefully away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and went home to be with the Lord. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1953. She was born on February 14, 1931 to Lellman Lee Ruggles and Connie Alice (Foster) Ruggles in Hope, Arkansas.

Nelladel worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1949 to 1964. She married the love of her life, Norman Clyde Combes, on October 3, 1951 in Durant. Nelladel loved cooking, gardening, shopping, traveling, eating catfish, being a grandmother, and recently a great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter NormaDell (Combes) Teel of Durant, granddaughter Brianna Dawn (Teel) Reed and husband David of Broken Bow; great-granddaughter Magnolia Alice Reed of Broken Bow; brother Rev. Dale Ruggles of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister Alice Sue (Ruggles) Brooks of Midwest City; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and a very special friend Joyce Lynn.

Mrs. Combes was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, and brothers Odin Foster Ruggles and Howard Lellman Ruggles.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma officiated by Bro. Donny Parrish. She will be laid to rest following the service at Highland Cemetery in Durant.
