Patricia Jan Stowers Carter, 75, of Calera passed away, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Colbert. Patricia was born January 26, 1936 in Madill, OK to Frank Marion Stowers and Marie (Bean) Stowers. She attended Madill Public School and Southeastern. She married Ralph Wayne Carter in Gainesville, TX on September 2, 1955 and they made their home in Bryan County. Patricia worked in sales and management and was a member of Colbert Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank M. Stowers and Marie Bean Stowers, sister L'Wanda Stowers McManus, Brother-in-laws; Bill Hawkins, Winford McManus, Bruce Mattson and mother and father in law M.M. and Bonnie Carter.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Ralph W. Carter of the home, sister Juanita Stowers Hawkins of Madill, daughter Decca Carter Hodge and husband R. Craig of Bonham, TX, son Ralph Wayne Carter II and wife Blaine of Calera, OK, daughter Carra Carter Outlaw and husband David of Bonham, TX, granddaughter Mignon Hodge Sluder and husband Jason of Ivanhoe, TX, grandson Jace Outlaw of Bonham, TX, granddaughter Jordan Outlaw of Bonham, TX, grandson Layne Carter of Calera, OK, granddaughter Zayne Carter of Calera, one great grandchild Raigan Sluder, sister in law Charlotte Carter Mattson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel with Chaplain Steve Walker officiating. Family hour will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, April 20th. A private family burial will follow after the service. Pallbearers will be Tom McClure, Denver Merrill, Thurman "Termite" Rail, Jess Holloway, Troy Stoner, Shawn Lyday, Matt Davis and Jim Bush.
