Edna Earl Mauldin Carpenter passed from this life on Monday, February 17, 2014. "Eddie" was born on February 10, 1931 to Lee and Pearl Miller Mauldin of Telephone, Texas.
She spent her childhood on a farm near Honey Grove, Texas, a place that was always dear to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one sister, Edith Caldwell.
She was of Baptist faith.
In 1949, she married William Eugene Carpenter, who preceded her in death. They had four children, daughter, Faith Hollis of Durant, sons, Dan Carpenter and wife Kathy of Durant, Joe Carpenter and wife Gina of Cullman, Alabama and Jack Carpenter and wife Cathy of Durant; eight grandchildren, Shawn Carpenter of Warsaw, Indiana, Jamie Carpenter of Cullman, Alabama, Josh Carpenter of Cullman, Alabama, Erika Downs of Dallas, Texas, Dustin Carpenter of Denver, Colorado, Corey Carpenter of Edmond, Oklahoma, Heather Godwin of Van Alstyne, Texas and Chris Hollis of Sherman, Texas and twelve great-grandchildren.
Edna lived her life for her children and her grandchildren.
Her favorite thing was having her family and friends at her house. She was an amazing mother/grandmother, a good friend and a great person.
Edna had many talents. She came from a musical family and could play guitar, piano or any other instrument by ear. She and her sisters often sang together. Edna also painted, crafted, and will be remembered by many for her extensive Santa Claus collection.
Services will be held at Brown's Funeral Service in Durant on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Bro. Randy Lewis will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. She will be buried at Highland Cemetery.
Edna's children will honor her as pallbearers. They will lovingly carry her to her final resting place. She carried them, so they will honor her and carry her home.
