Ruby P. Bush, age 87 of Durant, passed away on Wednesday January 22, 2020. Ruby was born on April 7, 1932 on Dutton Mountain, near Morrilton Arkansas and at age six her family moved to Oklahoma.
Ruby graduated from Cobb High School and continued her education at Southeastern State University where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Ruby was proud to teach as a reading specialist here in the state of Oklahoma and taught at several schools.
Ruby married Lloyd Frank Bush in Calera, OK on August 6, 1950 and of that marriage three sons were born. Ruby was a devout Church of Christ and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary Bryant, her son Lloyd Wayne Bush, her brothers Floyd Bryant, Loyd Bryant, Troy Bryant, sister Wilma Ford, her twin brother Ruben Earl Bryant, and brother W. J. “Dub” Bryant.
Ruby is survived by her sons Larry J. Bush and wife Wanda of Bells, TX, Steven Mark Bush and wife Stacy of Marietta, OK, Grandchildren; Randall Keith Bush and wife Kristi of McKinney, TX, Brian Gregory Bush and wife Heather of Azel, TX, Crystal Renee Bush of Garland, TX, Amanda Kay Bush of Denison TX, Samantha Joyce Blackburn and husband Ben of Oklahoma City, OK, Alex Jordan Batterton and wife Madison of Plainview, OK, Tommy Hawkins and wife Brandi of Marietta OK, Jeremey Hawkins of Marietta OK, Kimberly Baxter and husband Jason of Lone Grove, OK, and Kenny Hawkins of Marietta OK. Ruby also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren as well as one great great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 10:30 AM at Highland Cemetery. Leon Veazey, Chaplain of Guardian Hospice will officiate.The family will receive friends and family on Friday January the 24th from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM at Brown’s Funeral Services, Durant, OK.
