Ronnie Burns of Durant passed peacefully from this life on January 26, 2023 at the age of 80 years old. He was born on September 25, 1942 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Martin Luther and Velma Lorena (Fulcher) Burns. He married the love of his life Sandra Faye Quarles on August 17, 1963 in Blue, Oklahoma.
Ronnie retired as the Manager of maintenance for Dillards department store. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, and gardening. He loved working with his cows and horses. Ronnie was a member of Durant Church of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Robin Anderson and husband Mike of Durant, grandson David Ford Anderson and wife Lesley of Fort Worth, Texas, granddaughters Bailey L. Hayes and husband Garrett of Durant, and Reilly K. Cates and husband Southern of Van Alstyne, Texas. His legacy lives on with his great-grandchildren Haisley Faye Hayes, Heath Noble Hayes, Ronni Cardelle Anderson and one on the way, Baby Cates. Ronnie is also survived by his sisters Patricia Harder and husband Jim of Euless, Texas, and Wanda Peebles of Boshier City, Louisiana, his sister-in-law Sherry Graham of Durant, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Preceding him in death are his parents Martin and Velma Burns, wife Sandra Burns, father and mother-in-law David and Marie Quarles, and brother and sister-in-law Jason and Darla Burns.
Family hour will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel. His funeral service will follow the family hour at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Kent Springer officiating. Ronnie will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma following the funeral service.
Those serving as pallbearers are Ford Anderson, Cody Nichols, Jacob Anderson, Johnny King, Zack Wood, and Kent Springer. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Hayes and Southern Cates.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Durant Church of Christ.
