Patricia (Croley) Burkhalter a resident of Durant, respected educator and beloved family member left this life on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 66 years 5 months and 11 days. She was born on June 4, 1949 in Durant, Oklahoma to J.R. and Helen Ruth (Hiberd) Croley.
Pat dedicated her life to educating others. She graduated from Durant High School in 1967 and continued her own education by receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1970 and her Master in 1976 from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Pat taught at the Bokchito School from 1970-1991 instructing many grade levels in reading skills, while also serving as the Title 1 Coordinator. After the Rock Creek Schools consolidated she taught reading, computer labs for 2nd grade while also supervising federal, state and local programs from 1991-2007. Pat was the registrar at Colbert Middle School and High School from 2003-2012. During her 42 year career in education she served on numerous state department committees. Pat was very proud of her family and her Choctaw Indian Heritage.
Mrs. Burkhalter is survived by her daughter, Ginger Lynch and her husband Paul of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Christopher Burkhalter of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tyler Lynch, Alyssa Lynch and Brayden Burkhalter all of Durant, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Bruce Burkhalter and wife Annita of Rogers, Arkansas; special family, Don and Sherry Herron and families, Curtis and Diane Vaughn and families, Wesley and Roberta Morgan and families, Kenny Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Nathan Parker, Jeanne Walls and Marsha Ingram.
Mrs. Burkhalter was preceded in death by her parents, J. R. and Helen Croley; and father of her children, Roger Burkhalter; mother-in-law, Ruby Burkhalter.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-7:00 PM Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the 1st Baptist Church in Durant with Bro. Roger Speers and Bro. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hayes, Bill Hayes, Wendell Peoples, Tom Atkinson, David Robinson, Dale Ballard, Mark Hiberd and Stan Hiberd.
