Dorothy Goza Buchanan, a precious family member and friend to many passed from this life in Durant, Oklahoma on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 13 days.
She was born in Calera, Oklahoma to Harvey Green and Irene Glover Goza on Saturday, September 6, 1930.
Dorothy married Eston "Big Red" Buchanan in Sherman, Texas on Monday, November 1, 1948.
Dorothy was known by many friends and customers as the owner and operator of Reds Cafe on Market Square for 35 years.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Dorothy loved to cook and read.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her sons, Gary Buchanan and his wife, Joyce of Durant, Oklahoma, Donald Buchanan and wife, Kay of Durant, Oklahoma and Bobby Buchanan of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Betty Murphy of Statford, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Robert Buchanan of Durant, Oklahoma Jeff Buchanan and wife, Erica of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rodney Buchanan of Calera, Oklahoma, Angela Buchanan of Dallas, Texas, Wes Akin of Calera, Oklahoma, Holly Armstrong of Durant, Oklahoma, Jason Buchanan and wife, Katrina of Bennington, Oklahoma, Justin Boone and wife, Cathy of Durant, Oklahoma, Jason Boone and wife, Teresa of Durant, Oklahoma and Shannon Buchanan of McKinney, Texas as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Irene Goza; husband, Eston Buchanan; sons, Dewayne and Ralph Buchanan; granddaughter, Kari Buchanan and grandson, Michael Buchanan.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest donations be made to the Kings Daughters and Sons Nursing Home Activity Fund, 1223 W. Baltimore St., Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
A graveside service in honor of her memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Monty Wood officiating
